Day 1 at Tokyo Disneyland

Spent the day at Tokyo Disneyland.  We even hooked up with some old friends from Toronto - Danny, Lisa, Ryan and Sarah - and spent the day with them.  It was a lot of fun.  A few notable items. The Japanese obsession with all things Disney is even more than I can comprehend.  I wanted to take a photo of one of the groups of teenaged or young women who were decked out in matching Disney attire.  Some go them were even applying each others' makeup while they stood in queue for rides.  There were couples in matching Disney t-shirts.  People wearing crazy big Disney hats in 30C weather that even look too warm to wear in -30C weather.  And the last thing I'll mention is the Mickey bath towel worn like a shawl.   Will try to post photos of the above later.

We made it....and it was almost uneventful

The flight is over!! We are fighting sleep at this point and are trying to stay up a little bit longer hoping we do not wake up at 4:00am. I don't think it will matter but we will try.

The flight here was great for 12 hours or so - no turbulence, good movies, kids behaved, we really could't have asked for more. Notice how I said 12 hours or so? That's because the last hour of the flight included both of the girls throwing up...Kloe once and Emma twice. Ugh. On the bright side they were big girls and hit the Air Canada provided bag. It could have been worse for sure.

We did meet up with our friends and Emma and Kloe's friend Kokoro. She will be joining us at Disney for the next two days. Yes, two days at Disney and the weather actually looks okay.

Can't wait.

I'm afraid to pack

As usual, I'm just a couple of days away from flying to Japan and I think I have too much stuff to take.  It's all the maple syrup and other gifts :)  I haven't been to Japan during the summer in a very long time so I'm dreading the humidity.  Forecast shows Osaka at 40C with humidex.  Sigh ...
